Denise Held
Certified Reflexologist
Denise Held, RN, graduated from the UM School of Nursing in 1974. With over twenty years’ nursing experience, first as a visiting nurse in Boston, then as a Public Health Nurse in Grand Rapids, and finally, as a staff nurse at UM Hospital, she decided to explore other healing modalities. She became fascinated with the study of foot reflexology. After studying under Gloria Zimet (who developed the gentle form of reflexology known as Reflexolo-Chi™, which Denise employs), Denise obtained her Reflexology certification in 2007.
Reflexology is therapeutic foot massage which can improve circulation throughout the body, as well as help relieve foot pain, headache, and stress symptoms. On the feet are "reflex zones" which correspond to every organ, gland and body part; by massaging these reflex zones on the feet, the reflexologist helps the corresponding body parts to relax and function more efficiently. Not only does this make your feet feel great, but it also restores your body's natural balance and helps it to heal itself!
Denise has office hours on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday afternoons at the Natural Healing Center on Hogback Road in Ann Arbor. Sessions are scheduled for either an hour or 1 ˝ hours. Her fees are $45 for an hour appointment and $60 for 1 ˝ hours.
The only contraindications to receiving reflexology are a history of thrombophlebitis (blood clot in the leg) or current pregnancy. Everyone else, including those who are healthy and fit, those who have chronic pain or a physical ailment, and those who are feeling stressed from modern life, can benefit!
