Foot Reflexology can help your feet to feel better, and it can enable your body to relax and function more healthfully. Foot Reflexology is therapeutic foot massage, based on "reflex zones" on the feet which correspond to every organ and gland in the body. Massaging these reflex zones improves the function of the corresponding organs and glands by improving blood and lymph circulation and nerve conduction. This helps relieve foot pain and swelling, and it relaxes the nervous system so the body can work on healing itself. Just a few of the many conditions that can be helped by Foot Reflexology are Plantar Fasciitis, headache and stress symptoms, insomnia, digestive issues, Diabetes, high blood pressure, Gout, chronic fatigue, allergies and asthma. Denise Held, RN, graduated from the University of Michigan School of Nursing in 1974. With over twenty years’ nursing experience, first as a visiting nurse in Boston, then as a Public Health Nurse in Grand Rapids, and finally, as a staff nurse at University of Michigan Hospital, she decided to explore other healing modalities. She became fascinated with the study of foot reflexology. After studying the gentle form of reflexology known as Reflexolo-Chi™, which Denise employs, she obtained her Reflexology certification in 2007. Denise has office hours on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday afternoons at the Natural Healing Center on Hogback Road in Ann Arbor. Sessions are scheduled for either an hour or 1 ½ hours. Her fees are $60 for an hour appointment and $75 for 1 ½ hours. The first one-hour session is $35, a $25 discount! The only contraindications to receiving Reflexolo-Chi™ are a history of thrombophlebitis (blood clot in the leg) or current pregnancy. Everyone else, including those who are healthy and fit, those who have chronic pain or a physical ailment, and those who are feeling stressed from modern life, can benefit from Foot Reflexology!
